US and Iran agree to two-week ceasefire talks

FT News Briefing — Great News Program, Terrible Podcast Art - What Happened?

Marc Filippino and Clare Williamson’s news round-up each weekday provides a well-rounded catch up of topical and current geopolitical news and business news from Silicon Valley’s board rooms to the stories stirring in global capitols. Its razor-sharp focus on the news stories that matter offer a researched perspective in a pacy news cycle behind the headlines. My only quibble for 2026 for all of the FT’s informative podcasts is: why did they fire their designer or did he or she depart the esteemed media brand? I miss the iconic and distinctive flat design for the podcast artwork in my feeds which looked very smart, modern, clean and fresh. The artwork now looks much like AI-generated “slop.” It’s rather ugly and inconsistent unlike the cohesiveness of the artwork that all of the podcast series shared under the FT brand. The new designs look less like a trusted media source and more like a podcast I would rather skip or avoid. Why did you change out a distinctive design that looked great?

While the information in these podcasts is usually fine, they recently have been spending too much time discussing Trump. I’m not a huge fan of the man but it gets old listening to them trying to nitpick his every move.

Candid Comments

The show gives a useful overview of developments in business, tech, politics, and how it all impacts the economy. I listen daily, but I much prefer the days when the regular host delivers the news. With all due respect to her intellect and intent, Sonja’s voice is not made for podcasts. Especially when nestled in the ear, it comes across as grating and scolding. Please give us Mark’s dulcet voice daily, and find another substitute host!
